Hello all.

A few quick questions about ratings...:

I'm a level 3 user here at WC. I can rate skins, but I dont know where I can see a skin's rating. Anybody can point me in the right direction?

Also, people mention they can change their filter to a 4 or 7 or whatever. I keep looking in my profile, but can't see that option anywhere. Any ideas?

Thanx in advance for your help.

Ok, here's the deal from what I understand...

There are 2 levels you can be...example...

You can be a Level 4 but still be a 'Citizen'

On the other hand, you can be a Level 3, but be an 'Apprentice'

In order to actually see ratings and change which rating you want to see in Edit Account, you need to be an APPRENTICE or higher. I was a level 4 user before I became an apprentice, and only when I became an apprentice I could 'see' the rating.

However, you can still rate a work with Level 3/4. When you click on any skin, you will see the rate box, above where you type comments (not in the comment window itself). You will not be able to SEE the current rating, only able to actually rate the work.

I don't know if this was the intentional way of working it, but as far as I know, that is how it is...I could be wrong.

Hus, you can also be a Level 2 and rate as long as your an apprentice or higher.

If I was not a subscriber, I'd be a Level 2 as I have not purchased anything on my account.

So what do you guys think...

Should I contact an admin to try to get the permission to see a Skin's rating and change my preferences (filter) in my profile?

Like I said, I really don't care about about rating skins. I'd prefer actually not having the right to do so.

It couldn't hurt to write and ask if it's working the way it is supposed to for your user level/status.

Yup, I think I'll fire up a little Email to see if my account is set up the way it's supposed to be.

just to ad my 2 cents, I really don't see the point in not being able to change the filter, and definetly don't see why we're not allowed to see ratings. Why is this hidden from certain members of this community? I don't see why you can look at comments, post comments, see how many downloads and such have been made, but not be able to see what it is rated. I do however see the point in not letting everyone be able to rate, as that could get ugly (ego trips)

horizOn, the filter lets you by-pass the pieces that are rated lower than what you have it set at. I used to have mine set at 4 that way I didn't have to look at poor walls. As the moderating became easier, I now will have it set at 6. The rest of your question I'll leave to an admin.

WOM... you must have mis-read horizOn, he's saying he doesn't see any point to not being able  to change your filter.
I can think of one reason. Since filters are a method of controlling bandwidth, you must be promoted above citizen, to earn the right to bypass that filter. (this is just a theory--not set in stone)

I have no idea why some people can rate, but not view ratings........... Mods are not in on these types of decisions.

....and the reason I don't see the point in not letting all people change the filter is because that keeps most people, (including me) from being able to see everything wincustomize has to offer. IMHO I don't care what a wall's rating is as far as viewing, I want to see everything that comes in,because a lot of the time, downloads aren't based on whether it's good or not, it's whether a wall suits your taste. Many walls with poor ratings get good downloads, and many times I'll see a wall that is really well done, and with a high rating, but I don't download because it's not something I really want.

I just think if you are a member of this community at any level (not including visitors) then you should be able to set your account to let you view as little or as much as you would like.

After all, whats the point of things getting through moderation if you can't see them, and if things get through moderation, shouldn't they at least START out at a decent score. If a moderator passes a wall or other work through meaning and give it their seal of approval, why then give it a rating of 4 or 5?

aploligize again for the novel, if anyone made it far enough to read my apology lol

In order to rate a skin you must have Apprentice Access or UserLevel 4.
In order to view ratings you must have Apprentice Access or UserLevel 3.

There were a couple bugs in the system and they have been corrected.

And yes, ratings are one method of controlling bandwidth.
